The Down Lo on Thrive Market Delivery

Morning Peeps,

I thought I’d give on update on how the order from Thrive Market went, since it arrived yesterday. I don’t want to leave you hanging. Yesterday was the bombing in Brussels, the political scene in the United States is a fricking nightmare, but sometimes there is comfort in the mundane. The simple act of putting one foot in front of the other can often keep us from leaping out the open window.

Two boxes arrived yesterday, at my neighbors house. Strike one, but no biggie. My son and I opened the boxes lickety split. New Groceries, weehaw!

My first comment would be that there was way too much packaging. I appreciated that they were trying to keep the delivery items safe, after all, organic groceries are an investment. But there was a lot of wrapping – paper, tape, I already struggle with the amount of recycling we have in our house. The second thing I noticed was that although they listed sizes of the packages on their website, everything seemed tiny. My son held up a bag of gluten free bean chips that I was sure was a family sized bag when I ordered it, but appeared to be meant in reality for a first graders lunchbox.

When we got to the miniature bag of spicy organic beef jerky, we opened it and made short work of the four small pieces of jerky inside in no time flat. I almost laughed when I saw the small jar of tuna filets which would fit very nicely into a child’s dollhouse.

An Elf sized box of Broth

Despite the small size, which is essentially my own fault because anything that involves numbers basically turns my mind to goo, I am happy to have a supply of dried lentils, mung beans. broths and the like in my cupboard, because before it was bare. The goods were cheaper than the local health food store.

I give Thrive thumbs up, I will mention the excessive wrapping paper to them in my feedback.

Now if I could only figure out what to do about Donald Trump.

Good to know! I’ve been contemplating on doing their free trial for a month. I might give it a shot at some point but I’m quite chuffed that farmers market season will be starting soon!
